Happy New Year...

A fierce windy day, that is today! I like such weather despite all the rush and diffusion that accompany such weather. The hard part comes from the people (specially drivers) who dramatize the events. Some slow drivers and some are just crazy drivers causing dangers in the streets... it is one crazy world.
The wet streets gave some nice impressions in the darkness of the early morning hours with lights of houses and the streets and the traffic lights all got reflected from the ground making snap-worthy scenes. Unfortunately, no camera, yet no time to do that in such weather and wind even if I have my camera with me.


I spent last night doing some enhancements and translation work for the brochure that I'm designing for my work place. But actually before this work, I was doing some design for an old photo of mom when she was 18 (I think she got married at 18). I can't say it is really a good design, since I wanted to make it even more a professional-like thingy but with my recent capabilities. I had to fight even with my printer which was like a dog chewing my papers! I framed the printout with a ready-made frame and gave it to mom as a tiny gift to her. She's beautiful, young and old...


After this, I went on doing my own business with me back to doodling again. This time, I had no meeting, but my mental status and my eyes that were closing, and the boring time in the last few minutes at work were unbearable. So I had to resort to that thing;



I don't know why I called it the "Devil's Wife" but so it sounded to me! Does that mean I'm going insane? Hopefully... yes.
But before doing all of that I had to take a shower with plain water when I tried to fix some pipe out of the kitchen. It was changed and fixed, but the price was, wet pants!


Today, the translation yield was 4 verses altogether. Although the "nice" weather makes me sooth out and want to sleep for the sound of the rains, yet I felt some energy to go on and complete some more verses above the count of 2. I think I'm going to take the work back home with me, even though I know I won't be able to work with it much. The ability to memorize as much words as possible while translating is a crucial factor for speed writing and a non-stopped process. Sometimes, looking up a word in the dictionary and checking backward and forward slows me down for some seconds and sometimes minutes! If it is a new word to be made then the delay might become greater than this. I'm sure though there are many mistakes in the Ayvarith translation but well, I'm going to finish this one story and head to do other stuff with it. I guess this is my resolution for the new year!


Of course we don't celebrate the new year, just like we don't celebrate the Christmas as well, but anyway I think I'm allowed to say it to everyone who celebrate those events, so, Happy New Year all of you...

Where is my bed... ?

Apparently for the amazing sleeping system I'm following, I can barely cope with the last 3 hours of my work time. It is the second day now and my colleagues did not show up because of various reasons (or mainly sickness?). It is quiet and I like it that way.
In the mean time I'm working on a model for our coming brochure, and it is supposedly to be on a size of 3-fold A4. My boss sounded happy about it. The hard task though now is to provide an Arabic translation and to fill some white spaces.
I brought my book today with me to read a bit, but it is hard with such heavy eyes. I finished the Panoramic Photography book already, and now I've started to read the last of the three books: The HDRI Handbook. I discovered later on that there is a book for "practical" HDR photography from the same publisher, which might be my next target to purchase.
I have no more pictures at the recent time, and I'm going around the house trying to do some fixing issues here and there and that makes me awake all the afternoon and so tired at night, but yet I can't seem to sleep earlier (specially now with some projects to do about the brochure and mom's picture!). It is so boring though without my camera around to look at at least! Let's hope it goes well with the cleaning process. My friend told me that they would not be responsible for any damage in the sensor!


The translation process for today went on easily somehow though long, since I had to work here and there in the work place. The result was 2 verses as usual, reaching line #2328. It would be nice though to finish with this with the end of the year, but of course this is impossible!
I had plans to go to the movies today, but unfortunately my friend can't do it for today. It is one of the rare occasions that I do really want to go to the movies. I barely watch TV at home! Ah well, a change is needed sometimes...

Where is Canon...!

Today I've been roaming Al-Rai area looking for the service center of Canon. As I said before in a previous post, my sensor needs cleaning. According to my friend's description, the way sounded easy... or so I thought. However, after running here and there and asking many people and everyone got a GPS of their own in their minds that works according to some satellites around Venus or Jupiter but not Earth, I was able to find the service center. The big bang that was waiting for me was, 5 days needed to clean the sensor! I was like what the hell!!! Anyway, I have no choice. Let's wait and in this time, I will try to spend my time playing games, doing photos already taken, and work on the family memories photos! Ah! And just remembered now, I have to do some repairing issues for mom...

One of the images that I forgot about completely yesterday was a panorama of the class room in my work place, and I was working with it in a hurry (amid memory problems in my PC or what it seemed some scripting errors);

The image had lot, lot, lot of errors. However, I guess it is all related to the parallax point. Now, I think I have to spend some time over the net to see if there is a solution (cheap one) away from buying a professional VR head (VR: Virtual Reality). VR heads on a slight check up from some websites might cost way more than $700! No way to buy one, for the time being at least. The parallax error is not a problem when it is done for a field of sight far away from the camera, but it is recommended even in such situations because usually such heads got scales to measure the angles and elevation of the camera, thus it would prevent taking an excess of images unnecessarily in hope to overlap some features in between the images. I believe one of the fewest panoramas that I did, which did not have such problem of parallax (I didn't notice any mistakes till now!) was the field of Aughnanure Castle from Ireland!



Maybe the parallax error would be minimized to some extent if I spent more time with the stitching program and put my own control points? I don't know yet! In fact, with the new knowledge of some of these softwares, I'm reviving my hopes of some old pictures that I took some time ago for the dome of one of the building from the inside, and I'm hoping to make some magnificent advanced leap with this picture. However, I also think that I should snap this dome again with a different technique with my simple tripod. Hope I won't have any troubles till then, because the first shots were made in summer, and it was a quiet time then, but now, it is somehow an active time. I guess I need to be around in the early morning... in the very early morning!


Looking at my work place now, seems everyone had left and left me alone! Who cares anyway! Feels like a free bird!
The yield for today was 2 verses as usual. Amid my struggle with Al-Rai and going around my work place alone to check the samples, surely this gives me no time to write more, and 2 verses is a way forward push for today. I managed to go around many expressions today in order to get 2 verses done and also got lot of sitbacks because of some mixing in words... I feel my brain tied.


I bought a new frame today, hoping to work out an old photo of mom with photoshop then print it out and frame it, as a little gift for a lovely mother...

Bét Harrá...

Been some days away from work and away from most of the activities in my life and for the day of Ashura (which I took a single day leave for yesterday), but today, which happens to be a Monday (yes, a Monday) is a day that should not be considered in a life time. For some reason, I did not hear the alarm and thus, naturally, woke up late at 7:15! Moved out in a hurry and I joined the road's carnival! Almost around 45 (or more than 30 minutes a bit, I really lost my track of time), just to reach my work place, with all that pain in my feet! Now after arrival, I need to find something to eat!
Lot of people mix up between the term "Ashura" and the month of Moharram (first month in the islamic calendar). Thus, just to elaborate a bit about it: Moharram is the first month of the islamic calendar, and Ashura is the term used for the 10th day of Moharram ONLY. It is the day mostly remembered for the Battle of Karbala, where the grandson of the Prophet was massacred with his companions and his household, and the women of his household were taken like prisoners of war. Some people call this month "Ashura" which is wrong.

During the last few days I was busy with scanning some old photos that belonged to mom's collection and most of them were in black and white. I didn't finish though but I finished the majority. I just realized how beautiful mom is. I think by now, I want a girl that looks like her, in everything! I had a problem though after scanning that huge amount in TIFF format; I can't covert them back to JPG. Should've scanned them in JPG in the first place but I was thinking of some "compressing" that might make some data loss here. I hope there is some way around this problem! There is no way I'm going to scan 47GB back again in JPG! Never!
I discovered also that if I scanned the negative form (those negatives from the analog camera exactly as they are), I would be able to flip and inverse the colors back and I would have the original image just by scanning the negative! But, this is not a complete experiment... I need to do further investigation because flipping the colors produces a very bright image which needs some corrections in color to make it normal looking. Let's see what we can do later on!

It had been some days now without snapping anything, and mainly because I'm concerned about the dirty spots that I get in my images. It is clear that I need sensor cleaning. So much to spend on for now and just remembered some promises I made for some people, to lend them some money. I guess I have to rely back on my visa for a while, again. I might try to go to Canon's headquarter for services, and ask them to clean the sensor, but I just hope that doesn't take a day or two, because I'm totally out of mood for such a task.

I was doing some surfing the other day and I've discovered that I might indeed have what's called "ADHD" or the (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). I don't know if it is that bad, although according to some "screening" test (that should not be taken seriously), I do have some of this ADHD. Maybe this is obvious in my lack of patience specially when it comes to focusing on doing a task for a long time.

The yield for today is 3 verses, reaching line #2232. Can't wait to finish all of this! However, the word for today is "bét harrá" [Ankh: beyt hurWa] as you can see, which stands for "sail" (of a ship). The literal meaning is "house of air" and it points out to the mission of the sail of collecting the air to push the ship. Beside this word, I had to make out a word for "sail" as a verb, which I modelled after the word "sea" and became (baħam) [Ankh: buxuM]. Notice that the word for "sea" is (bħím) [Ankh: bxyM]. Also, the noun form of "sail" was modelled after "sea" and became (baħámah) [Ankh: buxamuH].
I can't imagine the amount of words that I've made up so far by translating this last part of the story of Alexander, and that makes me think of the hard work needed to put them down in the dictionary!

Rage...

It was one of the worst days that I had to live. Not really the worst, but let's say "one" of the worst. A meeting that was full of useless talk generally from one guy, and that took over my time to do other things, like writing this blog! (Which I deem more important than attending a meeting).

The usual activity when it comes to a meeting for me...

The thing that made me rage in fact is when I had my complete confidence and dependance on someone, to give me a phone call to get me out of the meeting, yet he never did after all the guarantees he made to me. Although I'm trying to find a suitable excuse for him, but I can't neglect the fact that I was screwed because of this.


Amid this, I didn't take new photos, but working already on some of those I took around our center's building. I discovered that some of them could be better with fixing the position of the camera a bit to make the picture somehow balanced. But since  I woke up one hour late from my usual time, I was not able to do much and not in mood to take much with me, so I didn't bring my camera for today.








These two photos are for a ramp that leads into my work place. Since it is a useless ramp and thanks to the administerative people for their silly paper work, I decided to make it useful for once at least with a photo. You might ask yourself, how such a photo is useful, well the answer would be "I don't know". In fact such photos are used mainly for patterns and backgrounds, and also to add some effects on other photos (or facial photos). People who used to read tutorials somehow about some photoshop effects would know some of such effects with layer blending tricks.
The photo above was composed by joining 6 images by Exposure Fusion, divided into 2 groups of 3; One group with tungsten WB in 3 bracketed exposures, and the same for the other group which was under Shade WB. The original image was darker so then I worked on some "narrowing" for the Levels (of highlights and shadows) in each of the RGB channels, and thus producing the other lighter and brighter image. But I tend to like the darker one more. I'm not an optimist that such image might be accepted by stock sites (specially a site like fotolia who can barely accept me as a human being...), but I shall give it a try.

Because of the screwed mood yesterday, I don't feel like translating anything for "today," but instead I went out from work roaming the roads doing some chores. I needed to change the air little bit and not face much people in this place where I work. I went on for making new glasses and found out that in a year almost, my sight had been degraded from -1.00 to -2.00 for the right eye, and from -1.25 to -2.25, for the left. One more year and I hope it won't be down even to -5. The guy in the glasses shop also advised me NOT to do the laser surgery for my eyes, for now at least, because it is risky and yet I don't need it, not till my sight gets down to -6!

I think I will be busy for some time "at work!" to fix some text and design the brochure that will introduce the center (i.e. my work place).

Roaming...

Three days of holidays. Weekend and Sunday for the new lunar year. It is the beginning of the month of Moharram, where the sadness hover around for the martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Mohammed (PBUHH). For this, I shall try to be all in black at least for the first 10 days. Some people are even braver than me for wearing the black for 2 months; that is Moharram, and Safar. Safar contains also the martyrdom of many holy personalities for Shiites, starting with the Prophet himself.


With the usual delay of my plans to clean up the room (typical), I couldn't stop taking my trials with the camera wherever I go and however I can. The image above was taken last Friday when this moth crashed into mom's head and fell down on some table. Many shots were taken in fact, but I think this one is the best. The bluish luster of the moth was in fact a result of the flash itself, and since I don't have a dedicated flash yet, I was not able to control much of the direction of the light needed. However, some people liked it that way. I tend to take the camera with me in the car wherever I go, because you wouldn't know when some idea flashes in your mind and makes you want a camera at hand immediately. Few days ago I was out for dinner with a friend and this is exactly what happened when I saw the Kuwait Towers. It is not the first time to take a snapshot for them, but this time I was closer and in a darker time, which made me think it is a nice trial for some HDR and exposure bracketing;







The initial settings were for a small aperture (f/22) which made a nice effect of glow for the lights in the beginning but there was not much differences in the exposure rate. I need to work and experience more to adjust the aperture according to my needs and to what I really want. However, I reduced the aperture after all and made the shot above with 3 bracketed exposures, adding to that the tungsten WB, to balance the yellowish lights around the place in general.

We had a meeting in my office today (my office is the meeting room actually) and hence, I did not have enough time to translate more than 2 verses as usual, and to type down this blog as well. So, I'm typing the rest of it here now at home, after doing some work with the photos I've taken today and after some hot shower to clear this greasy hair!

Since the meeting today was for the heads of the center where I work, it was a bit like something not for me, and fortunately my camera was with me to snoop around. After taking a group photo for the staff members of my place, I decided after the beginning of the meeting to go around and roam snapping pictures from all around. I still feel annoyed when I remember that the sensor needs cleaning and maybe a heavy one, since there had been some spots showing on the images that I'm taking. The spots can be cleaned of course by photoshop but it is still annoying and the sensor should be "clean" completely.

I had many shots, and I figured that using "exposure fusion" is more pleasant than the make of HDR images with tone mapping to give some weird artistic looks. With "exposure fusion" as well, I can merge photos with different WB (White Balance) to give some weird looking gradients all over the image, and with some tweaking you shall have it. An example of this tweaking:





This shot was made with somehow high exposure (+1.75 if I remember correctly) on several WBs and then fused together. I've been taking other photos from around the building in different angles trying to do some experiments with the vanishing points and how to use them to give somehow infinite look into the horizon (of the image) amid the constructions being under "inspection". I didn't prepare the other photos for now, but I shall hopefully post them here whenever they are finished. As for the time being, I've been reading some texts about panoramic photography, and seems there are some good (and complicated) softwares to test, that can do a better job than photoshop when it comes to stitching photos. I'm ahead for trying some!

This is a perfect day. Rain and winds rocked the place! Amazing!
I spent the last night working on some images here and there and I've began to understand more about the panoramic shots and why I get errors when I merge images together. Unfortunately, most of these errors are somehow unavoidable for my case, since it required special instruments to rotate the camera around certain axis, and they cost so much.

The Previous shot was done in 360 degrees and I cropped in the middle to avoid the excessive mistakes from the stitching process. Still some errors might be visible anyway in some corners. Another image that was disastrous with colors as well, was for the Gamma Lab:

I made the white balance here into a bluish hue and increased this hue later on after the stitching process, but I think this was not a good idea. I feel the image is not consistent with dark and light areas in general, while some spots are too dark (even in the original large image).


Despite these bad experiments, I got some nice results by mixing one image of different white balances into one by using "exposure fusion" facility. The result was weird and yet, it contained lot of Luminascence noise even after the usual filtration. But I do look at it from some artistic perspective after all;

It got a mix of blue and white mixture and I think it is pleasant for the eye in general. But yet, the picture that made me happy was none of the previous ones, but it was one that was regular, but I was happy to achieve such effect with this;

The angle and the blur at the back, as I believe, give a sense of great distant between the two (actual distance do not exceed 10 centimeters). This was an effect I'm happy out!

Away from photography and the waiting list for some images to work on, there were actually other reasons that made me happy about the rain today. In previous post, I mentioned that I was planning to go on ferry to Failaka but I didn't. The thing is, actually, I made what is called "Khirah". It is to ask for guidance to make some decision by using Quran (and there are other various methods as well). When I did this, the phrase that showed to me was:

وَأَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاء مَاء فَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُ وَمَا أَنتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِنِينَ

 

Translated as:

And We send the winds fertilising, and cause water to descend from the sky, and give it you to drink. It is not ye who are the holders of the store thereof.

The phrase speaks of winds and water or rain, yet the weather was so nice that day. Today, I was checking the schedule for the ferry again to see if there is any possibility to go today (beside work time), and seems like if the phrase from Quran applied itself perfectly for today, 2 days after from my enquiry! I don't know if there is a connection between the two, but it is something that makes me meditate into the nature of the universe and the events the surround us in general. Everything seems connected...

The yield for my translation process for today is 2 verses as usual, and I could not continue further since my eyes are almost closing by themselves. I did not make up much words for today though, and the translation process was going smoothly almost with no delay for looking up or making up a word. I've exceeded the limit of 2000 lines now, getting into line #2041. To me, it is a breakthrough, to get over 2000 lines being translated into Ayvarith. I try to say some words while writing in order to increase the grasp of the language and its sense.

As for now, it is Thursday, and it is time to take a nap in the afternoon, and go out by night, and then play some games all night IF my eyes helped me out with it!

Ąart^alí...

Two days passed in my life and they were the most sarcastic I would say. Yet, they went on fine. I took Tuesday off since I wanted to avoid the traffic jam, and since it is a one day off, I had to make the request for this leave one day before, that is Monday. Directly after doing this request on the system, I discovered that the streets were amost empty and no jam at all! The roads were better than normal days even! So I recognized the fact that people (most of them) actually requested 2 days off before the event and thus, not much was happening in the streets. However, although I could cancel this request, I decided to go on and take one day off.
Yet, the pranks did not stop. I was playing with myself some silly games. I was planning to go to Miskan island on Tuesday morning (and first I have to go to Failaka by ferry), but then with hesitation I decided to cancel. Later in the day I realized it is Tuesday already and no ferry is going to Failaka! Ah well, nothing was lost, but I had to sit around and laugh at myself for some time.


I went on a shooting course on Monday taking pics from around the labs and trying to make panoramic views out of the labs for the website that we are trying to enhance for the center. Yet, I faced many problems later on when I reached home and tried to stitch the pictures together. I discovered many mistakes that I do when I take panoramic shots under the light of the new information that I get from reading a book about panoramic photography, yet, I cannot avoid such mistakes because of the financial limitation already. For the time being, I'm planning to order a "dedicated flash" and filters, yet, I have to wait still.

The labs corridor in CRER

The image above is a panoramic stitch for the labs corridor in my work place. It was shot as HDR then reduced by tone mapping of course. I made many mistakes here, specifically I think I shouldn't have make the shoot in portrait position, but it should have been in landscape orientation, and hence it would be easy to cut on the edges of the composition later on. The weird thing is also that, in the lower part, the composition seems OK and balanced and centered, yet the top portion of the ceiling seems tilted a bit. I wanted to try more methods for stitching, but anyway, I thought it is better to shoot the corridor again and in lanscape orientation this time. For this reason, I made a run again today, and some work is waiting for me back home.


Because of some of this pressure and walking around with my camera, I didn't have the time (and power) to translate more than 2 verses as usual. One of the words made today is the title, "Ąart^alí" [Ankh: AurQpulY]. Ąart^alí, means "naked" and the verb is "Ąart^al" [Ankh: AurQpul] (to be naked or get naked). In fact this word is not completely made up since it is exactly the Aramaic (Syriac) root of the same word.
Along with writing so fast with the translation, I noticed that I've been deforming some of the letter for the purpose of speed writing, and that sparked in me the idea of a "curvatic" Ayvarith script other than the one that I already made before, which I called "Magdúb Yúdiþ" (hand script). This one keeps the separated letters and do not join them, yet it has curvatic appearance, and different already from the shapes that I already made in the former version of the hand script.

Laħúf...

It is a day that was almost beginning with a disaster. Woke up and hour later than my usual time and had to things in a hurry and didn't even go to pick up something to eat as usual. I type these words now and worrying now what is the status of the streets outside since it is the time of the GCC and streets are said to be closed from 11:30 to 1:30. The traffic jam needs more time to clear out even after removing the blocks from the streets.

It is a tiresome day in general and I couldn't translate more than 2 verses, despite my dedication to do more. I spent more time working with my camera around my work place trying to snap some labs and devices, and that stretched a muscle a bit. I'm drowsy and I just can't think how am I going to get back home with these eyes half closed.

New emails arrived from Fotolia with the usual and the UNpredicted results, all my new photos submitted were declined. I think I need a camera that works with water or something to make images as clear as they would like to. I discovered that I'm not the only one who got this problem but maybe even more professional photographers are facing the same barricade. How do they sell? I just don't know...

With this hunger, I'm going to fight to stay conscious until getting out of here. There is a lot of work to do with photos waiting for me, thus all my plans for cleaning the room seem to vanish today!

The word for today is "Laħúf" [Ankh: laxwf] which means "bark" as in "tree bark". The word is made solely and completely random and not related to previous made up words. If there is any resemblance to any word in Ayvarith, then I believe it would be a mere concidence! Although the word is random but the real base is the Arabic word "لحاء" which means "tree bark". The gender is masculine.

Interior Design...

Today, I decided to give myself a little vacation (adding one day to the weekend already). But it was not a real vacation anyway since I had plans for today. I was planning since the last night to go and make my attendance with the fingerprint machine and then leave by the ferry to Failaka island and then from there to Miskan island, since I've been told that there are some special boats specified for taking tourists up to there. However, my plans did not go as I planned, because by dawn the gates of heavens opened up and the rain started to hammer down. It was a bit dangerous to go on for a cruise even if such rain stopped later on, because you wouldn't know when it's going to rain again.
Since my plan to go on the ferry was not achieved, I decided to go on and complete some cleaning tasks that I've started yesterday, but stopped with the excessive back pains. Later on, I went on back to my work place to do the fingerprint again, and it was so damn thick and dense and jammed place and got myself even stuck in the wrong entrance and had to go all the way back on Reverse. I think I spent like 30 minutes to reach the work place, while I took around 15 minutes to reach home after leaving the place. But this is nothing for now, for the real jam will start by tomorrow by the arrival of GCC leaders into the country and cops had made their own preparations for diverting some roads to other places, thus despite the fact that the ferry times are good for tomorrow and the day after, but I just don't want to risk my luck with it, since I have to get back and do the damned fingerprijnt check up again.

Taking some break from the pictures taken from Ireland now and now working on some pictures that I took for the house from the inside. It is a trial to check if I can make the ordinary house that I live in by everyday, into something new for the eyes by photographs. However, it can be only a play with my camera as well.






I'm in dilemma as to what to order first for my camera, I need so many tools that I don't think it is a good idea to order all at once. Maybe I should concentrate for the time being on getting a suitable dedicated flash, and a neutral density filter.

The activity for now with my translation is of course null, since I did not go to my office today. But I might spend much more time doing it by tomorrow...

TGIT...

TGIT. Thank God It's Thursday! I didn't do any post yesterday because I did not have the time to do anything, since I was busy taking pictures in the morning from the working place here, and then I took a leave from 10 o'clock to the rest of the day. I spent some time with a friend visiting the Scientific Center and going through the Aquarium. Too bad that I did not bring my camera. I thought it is not allowed, until I saw someone using a camera with a flash.


At work yesterday, I was taking some pictures for documentation purposes, but later on I had to work my mind a bit and trying to find some "inventive" spots to take some pictures from certain angles. Maybe I was good at that but I did a mistake with facing the sun rays sometimes while shooting;





And guess what? My boss embraced my job with the photos! I'm flattened! (or is that flattered? Well, same yield!).

Been discovering some multiple word make up in my dictionary and it's going to be some hard time to settle down some issues with this. There are even some words that I'm sure I made up before, but yet, I cannot find any traces in my dictionary or in the margins of my draft. Yet, I do remember I made such words. That may cause me some even hard time even after finishing the translation. I'm reaching the limit of 2000 lines for now, and the contents in general should be smaller than I thought because, as I stated before in previous posts, there had been many errors in the numerbing of the lines (skipping some numbers or repeated numbers and so on), and that makes the number of lines lesser than stated before (that is, 3000 lines). More than 15 pages remain on the queue list to be translated with an average of 2 verses per page (more or less), in other words, more than 30 verses are waiting for my translation! Each verse has 24 lines... my hand is going to have muslces and my brain and tongue will play tricks with my own native language. Just imagine that I have to spell check the Ayvarith version after that, and check the grammatical composition! Yes... it is breaking down my back.
After translating three verses today, my brain felt a sudden shut down and I can't continue anymore with it for now. So I'm going to spend the rest of my time until I get out of here with reading, and coping with this silly connection that had been playing tricks since the morning... until the postage of this entry.

Gadħúm...

Finally, the day that was a heavy burden for me had passed peacefully, relatively. I demonstrated some simple stuff for the class about some devices and some aspects of the devices. It was not much, but the mood was completely off, and thank God, half of the people did not come today.
Because of this matter, I didn't translate much today, except of the usual 2 verses. I did some reading as well after finishing the demonstration. By tomorrow, I might not do much, as I am planning to leave my work place earlier and not coming back, but in the same I'm planning to bring my camera hopefully and take some images for some systems in my work place. The group photo that we were planning for might have to wait till next Thursday or next Sunday.

Today, I received one of the funniest messages on my work email address. It was from the IT department:

Kindly Notice Kuwait University Wireless service will be under maintenance today Monday 8th 
December starting from 10am.

I've removed the Arabic part since it made some troubles for me here in the writing space. I hope you noticed already that today, is Tuesday and not Monday, and the date is 8th which confirms with today's date. Left to say that, the outage is planned around 10am, while the email was sent around 10:20am. Talk about fast services here!


One of the words made today is: gadħúm [Anhk: gudQxwM]. The word comes with the meaning of "size" or "volume" (not in mathematical sense bt in general sense). The main derivation of this word comes from an old word I made already when I began creating the Ayvarith conlang, Gdíħam [Ankh: gQdyxuM] meaning "great" or "enormous". I've derived a verb directly from this word meaning "to be in size" or simple "to size"; Gadħam [Ankh: gudQxuM].

News arrived that some streets will be closed. I hope that won't effect my route back home, but alas, speak about having a "good" luck!

Murjal...

Almost overslept. Despite the feeling of boredom with the early hours of the morning, I went directly to my office without my usual route to pick up something to eat first. I picked tiny stuff from a shop near my place.
In the office, I was a bit active and moving here and there, yet I didn't feel the urge to get into the lab (except by the morning to open up the Liquid Nitrogen valve). I spent most of the day (beside working on stuff for my WORK) translating and reading successively. Seems this method of flactuating translating and reading is working and I bypassed 2-verses-per-day limit. I was able to finish the translation of 4 verses today, and boy I did get muscles in my fingers. All of that, while also doing some other things and reading in between. Seems reading changes my mood a bit so that makes me able to work more on my translation.

Since I'm easily bored when I concentrate on a single thing (as always), seems this is the only way I would get my life going when I want to do something so bad. The question is now, how to use this mentality to accomplish the story that I stopped writing long ago before my travel to Ireland? I don't know!

For the fact that I have translated many verses today, came along some new words that I had to bypass by some twisting in meaning, or by making new ones already. One of the words was "Morjal" [Ankh: morQjul], meaning "Sandal" (as a footwear). I made another word for "sandal" as wood as well, and it was "candaldal" [Ankh: cunQdulQdul]. I noticed that I have the urge always to make the first syllabe of such words, specially long words, to be a slender mostly with "i" sound. For this reason I decided to break this rule and make the first syllable in this word as "ca" instead of "ci."

After sending the pictures of Ireland to many people for some days now, I decided to put them here. Each one of them will open a link with some description and a larger image. I've been taking some break from photoshop and all that work with photos, and spending more time with games on my queue list. Now, it might be the time to get back and resolve some old issues that I didn't finish yet.
